Meta tips

It's the beginning of a new month, so what's on at Meta House in December I hear you asking. Meta House for the uninitiated is an arts/media center in Phnom Penh (Street 264) that is well worth a visit and the program for this month has a few must-see cinema/documentary nights to look forward to. Top of the list is Friday 12th when Socheata Poeuv's superb documentary New Year Baby gets an airing, in both Khmer and English. If you enjoy wooden acting then I recommend the showing of Norodom Sihanouk's Shadow Over Angkor and some rare 1960s footage from the Royal Palace archives on Tuesday 9th (start 7pm). Another filmmaker night, Tuesday 16th, will see Hong Kong director KM LO's two features filmed in Cambodia. Also interesting enough to stop by and watch are: Dogora (Thursday 11th); The Post - an Australian docu about the Phnom Penh Post (Friday 19th); and Nice Hat! (Saturday 20th). Lots of other stuff going on of course, but the above are the ones that caught my eye. Link: Meta House
